Top highlights: A brand with a truly international presence; many different sporting markets
VIP or loyalty programme: No
Other offerings: Casino; live casino; poker
K8 isn't a name that is greatly familiar to European sports bettors, although this situation is rapidly changing as the originally Asian brand becomes better-established on the continent. Indeed, it now has offices in many countries around the world, including the Philippines, Vietnam and the United Kingdom. The business's European expansion began in 2015, while its website is operated by the Belize-incorporated company, Gamma Growth Inc.
Promotions and bonuses are generally central to the appeal of any online gambling site, so it was a slight concern to us to see so few of them being offered on the K8 site when we visited for this review. The promos that we did find seemed to be largely aimed at users of the site's casino, instead of its sportsbook.
Nonetheless, we hope for significant growth in the site's promos in the near future. In the meantime, sports bettors here can still look forward to:
A first-deposit welcome bonus
All of the most popular sports are offered at K8, including the likes of:
Football, encompassing such competitions as the UEFA Champions League, English Premier League and Spanish Primera Division
Horse racing, with events in the UK, Ireland and Australia all catered for
Tennis tournaments across the UK, France, US and around the globe
Snooker events like the UK Championship and Champion of Champions
American football, cricket, golf, rugby league, rugby union and so much more
In-play betting is certainly a big focus of K8. This type of betting, for those who are unaware, entails having a flutter on the outcome of a sporting fixture while it is taking place. It's certainly a more stimulating way to bet, and when we visited the site for this review, it was offering in-play betting opportunities for such sports as tennis, badminton and basketball.
But it's also practically obligatory these days for an online gambling portal to have a specially optimised version for mobile play, and K8 thankfully does so, too. Unfortunately, there's no downloadable app just yet, so if you wish to access K8 in this guise, complete with a 'hamburger' menu to make navigating on a small screen easy, you'll need to point your smartphone or tablet's web browser towards the site.
With its grey and gold colour scheme, it's obvious that K8 has gone for an understated look instead of attempting to graphically woo us, and there's nothing wrong with that. This is a site, after all, where you will want to be able to concentrate on your actual sports betting.
Navigation on both the desktop and mobile variants of the site is perfectly intuitive and logical. If you're on the former, for example, the top part of the page houses so many of the essential functions you'll need, including links to the 'Deposit', 'Withdraw' and 'My Account' sections.
The site's actual sportsbook platform, meanwhile, is provided by EveryMatrix, which is one of the most respected names in the online gambling sector.
While K8 doesn't do a huge number of things that other sportsbooks don't do, we do like the site's regularly updated blog, which previews upcoming football, horse racing and golf events. It's a section of the site that could benefit from expansion if K8 really wishes to make the most of it, however.
At the time of this review, K8 did not offer a VIP or loyalty scheme for sports bettors. It does offer a loyalty programme that may be of interest to casino players on the site, however, based on the earning of Casino Frequent Player Points (FPPs). Points are collected when you play through the site's casino games, and can be converted into cash.
As we've alluded to a few times in this review already, K8 doesn't focus solely on sports betting. Its casino section, in fact, is truly comprehensive, showcasing all manner of slots, roulette, blackjack and other games from leading casino software providers such as Microgaming, Tom Horn Gaming, NYX Interactive and NetEnt.
It gets even better than that, though - there's also a part of the site devoted to 'live dealer' games, which enables you to immerse yourself in all of the glamour of roulette, blackjack, baccarat and more as if you were stood in an actual brick-and-mortar casino.
The range of accepted payment methods at K8 isn't as wide as what so many sports betting portals offer, but the site's approval of Visa, MasterCard and Neteller should still suffice for most players.
|Payment Method||Fee||Processing Time||Limit Per Deposit|
The site aims to normally withdraw money to the same payment method that was used to make a deposit. If this isn't possible - such as if the card you used to deposit doesn't accept withdrawal - you can have your winnings paid out to you via bank transfer. However, in this case, the site may ask you to provide some documentation to verify your identity.
|Payment Method||Fee||Processing Time||Limit Per Deposit|
|Visa||£0||3-5 days||Maximum £2,300|
|MasterCard||£0||3-5 days||Maximum £2,300|
|Neteller||£0||24 hours||Maximum £2,300|
|Bank Transfer||£0||Maximum £2,300|
The site's comprehensive Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section - incorporating such categories as 'My Account', 'Registration', 'Deposit' and 'Withdrawals' - should answer almost any query that you could have. In the event that you still need some help after reading through it all, however, you've always got the option of winging an email to the site team or activating the 'live chat' feature.
K8 also has a presence on both Facebook and Twitter. Perhaps surprisingly, though, it doesn't provide a phone number that you can call if you would prefer to communicate with the site team in this direct a manner.
There is a list of territories on the K8 website from which registrations are not accepted, due to the legal situation in some parts of the world with regard to online gambling.
The below is not an exhaustive rundown, but nonetheless includes some of the restricted jurisdictions:
Gamma Growth Inc, which is the company that runs the K8 site, is fully licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, which is one of the most trusted bodies in the world for the regulation of online sportsbooks and casino sites.
There are several signs that K8 is a 'work in progress' brand in the online sports betting sphere, such as its relative lack of promos for sports bettors and the current absence of a VIP or loyalty scheme for such users of the site. Nor is there yet a mobile app, although an optimised smartphone-ready site does exist.
However, with its wealth of sporting markets, unfussy and functional site design and informative support section, K8 does tick plenty of the boxes for a really great online sportsbook.
Register with K8 now, and you'll be well-placed to see how this intriguing portal for sports betting continues to develop in the years to come.
